Now, In case you mistakenly transferred Money to the wrong account and the account refused to refund your money, or you get scammed.

Many people don't always know what to do, so today I am sharing with you things you'll do when you realize the person you paid for a service or goods is avoiding you:

1. Write out the Full name and account number of the page or person.
2. Go to the last notification your bank sent you after you made the payment (via mobile app or text) and copy out the "TRANSACTION ID NUMBER".
3. Go to any branch of the scam artist's bank (the bank you transferred to), and ask to see the CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFICER in charge of FRAUD.
While you are there, send an email to SCAMMER'S BANK or the bank you wrongly paid to and copy CBN FRAUD DESK (anticorruptionunit@cbn.gov.ng) and also cpd@cbn.gov.ng
& contactcbn@cbn.gov.ng, this will ginger the bank to take it up fast.
After you have successfully done these, the Suspect’s account will be placed on hold.

The BVN will be permanently blocked, until he/she clears himself with the bank.
He/she can even be arrested if they show up at the bank, depending on the magnitude of their offense.
Above all confirm your transactions before you proceed to avoid these mistakes.

So over the weekend, yours truly was honored as the HIGHEST SELLING REALTOR OF THE YEAR 2023.

I have been in active Law practice for over a decade, but started real estate practice barely 6months ago, yes! You heard right 6MONTHS AGO!
And so far, I have made about 100million naira in Land sales.

No! I haven’t sold any house just yet and no high-ticket land sales too, but am I grateful? Oh yes I am 💯
Did I see this coming? Not exactly, but of course just like everything I set out to do, I would always smash goals.

To my clients, who saw the sincerity of purpose, the hard work, attention to details, topnotch professionalism I am most grateful.

A Trademark is the identity of your business, its part of your intellectual property as a business and you are advised to protect it by registering it. Often times people ask lots of questions regarding trademark registration and in this copy, we have tried to answer some of them. Here you go -

1) Is trademark registered in Nigeria, applicable to other parts of the world? No Trademark registered in Nigeria, applies to Nigeria alone. Each country and their rules. So hen you are in Rome, you behave like the Romans.

2) Does Trademark come with Certificate? Yes! Certificates are issued eventually but not immediately. They are issued after the marks are successfully published and goes unopposed.

3) Is trademark registration Free? No! There are official fees to be paid to the ministry of trades and investments. And the professional fees of your Lawyer, entirely depends on him.

4) Can trademark be transferred? Yes! Just like every other thing worth owning. Trademark can be transferred.

5) Should every business register their trademark? Yes! Every business, who has an identity ought to register their trademark.

6) After I register my trademark, can I publicize it? Yes! It’s right to inform the members of the public, that your mark has been registered. That way, you put them on notice.

Trademarks are those logos, names, symbols, slogans, mottos, words etc and that a person, business, organizations etc are known for.
Trademarks are a means of identification for entities.
Trademarks have numerous benefits and here are 6 benefits of TRADEMARK REGISTRATION-

1) Trademarks represent the identity of your brand.

2) Trademark is a compulsory requirement for NAFDAC registration in Nigeria

3) It gives you exclusive right to the registered trademark.

4) It gives you a right to sue or seek an injunction against any person or business infringing on your registered trademark.

5) Trademarks are assets and should be protected.

6) Registering your trademarks, helps to protect them against online copycats.

There is a difference between a trademark ™️ and a registered trademark ®️

While a TRADEMARK is an identity you are known for but not officially registered by you as provided by law.
A REGISTERED TRADEMARK is an identity you are known by and have officially been registered by you.

These are the steps to take where a person is copying your trademark-
1) Reach out to the copycat (this can be done orally at this point, either via phone calls or text messages, informing them of your right over the intellectual property in question.

2) Where the party refuses to comply based on your earlier notification, engage your Lawyer to write them officially.
The Letter that is meant for this purposes is called the THE LETTER OF CEASE AND DESIST.

3) This letter must be served on the party who is infringing on your intellectual property and a copy acknowledged by him or her.

4) Where the party fails to adhere to the contents of the CEASE AND DESIST LETTER, your Lawyer, should write a second letter of demanding. This letter is to ask the party who has copied your trademark to CEASE AND DESIST else a legal action would be taken against him or her.

5) Where the party in question still refuses to adhere to the demands that have been made in these letters, then you get your lawyer to commence a legal proceeding again them for an infringement on your registered intellectual property.
Your lawyer should feel free to seek both special and general damages to this effect.
